Hi, I’m Florre, founder of Bonsai Keyboards.

As a performance marketeer, I type for over eight hours a day. I use Windows for personal stuff and Mac for work. I also enjoy playing cozy indie games from time to time. But despite spending all that time at my desk, I kept using regular laptop keyboards. They didn't type well, and the sound left a lot to be desired. I just wanted something better. A solid mechanical keyboard to make my workday a bit nicer.

Since I grew up with an AZERTY (ISO-BE) layout, I didn't want to switch to QWERTY. Most work laptops use our local layout anyway, so it makes sense to keep it consistent.

I also didn't want a massive DIY project that took hours of tweaking just to sound okay. I was looking for a good board that worked well out of the box, with the option to customize it later. Since these keyboards are hot-swappable, I ended up replacing the stock Banana switches on my own desk with Gateron Oil Kings, my current favorite switches.

Trying to find a nice keyboard in our local layout, along with the right parts to adjust it, took way more effort than it should. That is the main reason I started Bonsai Keyboards.

No layout compromises

We focus on the ISO-BE (Belgian AZERTY) layout. You don't have to remap keys or get used to a foreign format. You just type the way you always have.

Ready to customize

A keyboard should sound good the moment you plug it in, without needing modifications. If you do feel like experimenting later on, we offer switches you can easily swap in to change how typing feels.

Cozy aesthetics

Since a keyboard takes up a fair amount of space on your desk, it should look good. We pick our products based on how they sound and type, but also on how they fit into a home office or gaming setup aesthetically.
