Keychron Q1 Max ISO

Type Fully Assembled Knob (Carbon Black)
Keyboard layout ISO-BE (AZERTY)
Keyboard switch type Gateron Jupiter Banana

A solid wireless aluminum board

The Keychron Q1 Max takes the familiar aluminum frame of the standard Q1 and adds wireless connectivity. At 1.7 kg, it is a heavy board that stays exactly where you put it on your desk.

What really stands out to us is the sound. We know a lot of people are looking for a keyboard with a deep, solid 'thock'. The heavy case and internal acoustic foams absorb the hollow echoes you often get with plastic cases, giving a muted, thocky sound profile straight out of the box. We currently offer it in the standard ISO-BE Azerty layout.

Sound

Re-engineered with IXPE, PET & Latex foams

Acoustic design

Keychron included a 6-layer damping system in this model. There are IXPE switch pads and a PET film located between the switches and the PCB. In practice, this gives the board a distinct, clear sound right out of the box, saving you the trouble of opening the case to add your own foam. The bottom section also contains latex and acoustic foam to absorb echoes.

Gateron Jupiter Banana switches

Standard red or brown switches can sometimes feel a bit scratchy or vague. We chose to pre-install the Gateron Jupiter Banana switches for this board. They are tactile switches with an operating force of 59g. Unlike standard tactile switches, you feel the bump right at the very start of the keypress. They are lightly lubricated at the factory, which makes them type fairly smoothly.

The Q1 Max is hot-swappable. While we love the Banana switches, you aren't stuck with them forever. Prefer buttery smooth linear switches? Or looking for silent switches for the office? You can pull out the switches and plug in new ones in seconds, no soldering required.

Cherry keycaps

A premium switch deserves a premium touch. That’s why the Q1 Max is fitted with high-quality double-shot PBT keycaps in the Cherry profile. PBT is a relatively durable plastic that resists developing a shiny or greasy look over time. We find the slightly lower and sculpted Cherry profile quite comfortable for daily use. The characters are double-shot molded into the plastic itself, so they won't fade over time.

Connectivity options

The "Max" in Q1 Max stands for maximum connectivity. You can connect the Q1 Max in three ways.

  1. Gaming (2.4 GHz): The included 2.4 GHz dongle provides a 1000 Hz polling rate, which is fast enough for gaming.
  2. Multitasking (Bluetooth 5.1): For regular daily tasks, you can use Bluetooth 5.1 to connect to up to three devices and toggle between them.
  3. Wired: Lastly, there is also a standard USB-C port for a wired connection, which simultaneously charges the 4000 mAh battery.

Mac and Windows support

There is a physical switch on the back of the case to change the layout between macOS and Windows. We include the necessary keycaps for both operating systems in the box, so you can swap the Command and Option keys for Alt and Windows keys. If you use a Mac, the function row controls your media and brightness natively.

Build and customization

The chassis is CNC-milled from a block of 6063 aluminum. It features south-facing RGB lighting, which means the LEDs sit at the bottom edge of the switch housing. This ensures the switches don't bump into the Cherry profile keycaps when pressed.

You can also change the function of any key, or the rotary knob, using QMK and VIA. You can remap keys and create custom macros directly through your web browser, and avoid any bloatware.

Frequently asked questions

Are these keyboards compatible with the standard Belgian layout?

Yes! All keyboards sold at Bonsai Keyboards come in the official ISO-BE (AZERTY) layout. This means you have the correct enter key shape and all special characters and accents are exactly where you expect them to be.

Do I have to pay import taxes or customs fees?

No. Since we are a Belgian company with local stock, the price you see is the price you pay. There are zero hidden customs fees or import duties for shipping within the EU.

Will these keyboards work with my Mac / Windows PC?

Absolutely. Keychron keyboards are fully compatible with both macOS and Windows. They even include a physical switch on the back to toggle between systems, and we include replacement keycaps for both Mac (Command/Option) and Windows (Alt/Win) in the box.

How fast is shipping within Belgium?

We ship directly from our local Belgian warehouse. Your package is usually delivered within 2-3 business days via Bpost. Because we ship locally, you will never have to pay any unexpected import taxes or customs fees.
